Abstract:
An embedded multimedia card (eMMC) using a unidirectional return clock signal, a host for controlling the eMMC, and an operating method of an eMMC system including the eMMC and the host are disclosed. The eMMC of the present invention comprises: a clock channel receiving a clock signal (CLK) output from the host; a command channel receiving a command (CMD) output from the host; data channels transmitting data (DAT′7:0′) to the host; a return clock channel transmitting a return clock signal (RCLK) synchronized with the data to the host; and a return clock control unit selectively enabling the return clock signal according to a protocol control signal.

Disclosed are an embedded multimedia card (eMMC), a host for controlling the eMMC, and operating methods thereof. The eMMC according to the present invention includes a flash memory and a memory controller which controls the flash memory. The memory controller includes: a command register which receives and stores a command set transmitted from the host when data is transmitted to or received from the host; a first buffer which stores the transmitted or received data; and a second buffer which stores data corresponding to the command data, apart from the first buffer.

Disclosed is an embedded multimedia card (eMMC). The eMMC includes a clock channel which receives a clock signal outputted from a host, data channels which receive data signals from the host, and a command channel which receives a SWITCH command (CMD6) including delay offset values from the host to control the delay of at least one data signal received in response to the delay offset values.
