Abstract: Provided are a medical imaging apparatus which automatically recommends a protocol suitable for photographing an object based on information about the object and a controlling method thereof. The medical imaging apparatus includes a control part which determines at least one protocol for scanning the object, sorting the protocol according to predetermined standards, arranges the protocol sorted according to a selected standard when one is selected among the standards, and recommends the arranged protocol; and a display part which displays a recommendation protocol arranged by the control part.
