A method for switching a channel comprises the following steps of: switching the channel when a channel switching instruction is inputted(S410); controlling a transceiving unit or a TS(Transport Stream) intercepting unit so that a TS received from a set-top box can not be inputted to an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) decoder(S420); controlling the transceiving unit to transmit the channel switching instruction to the set-top box and requesting channel switching to the set-top box(S430); determining whether the channel switching is completed(S440); and controlling the transceiving unit or the TS intercepting unit to output the TS received form the set-top box(S450).
