    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for selecting a menu in a portable terminal are provided to enable a user to select conveniently a desired menu by additionally providing a wrist wearable-type portable terminal with the first input unit and the second input unit to select a menu. A portable terminal comprises a display unit(19), the first input unit(11), the second input unit(12), and a control unit(15). The first input unit(11), installed at the outer circumference of the main body of the portable terminal, gradually rotates at a regular angle. The second input unit(12), such as a rotary button, is installed at a side of the main body so that the user can execute a push operation while consecutively rotating the second input unit(12). The control unit(15) provides an associated menu list to the display unit(19) according to the rotation direction and rotation stage number of the first input unit(11). The control unit(15) changes the position of the cursor on a menu list according to the rotation direction of the second input unit(12) and the extent of the rotation of the second input unit. If the second input unit is pushed, the control part executes a control operation so that an operation corresponding to a menu, where the cursor is located at present, can be carried out.
