    Abstract: A near-field optical recording/reproducing apparatus and a tilt control method thereof are provided to prevent a collision between an information storage medium and the solid immersion lens by executing tilt control at the position to increase a tilt margin. A near-field optical recording/reproducing apparatus comprises a light source(21), an objective lens, an optical detector, a signal processing/determining unit(150), and a control unit. The objective lens condenses the light emitted from the light source and transmits near field light to an information storage medium. The optical detector detects a gap error signal used for air gap control between the information storage medium and the objective lens. The signal processing/determining unit determines tilt control position based on an edge voltage obtained by using the gap error signal.
