Abstract: A cell searching device and a method thereof for reducing the hardware complexity in a communications system are provided to perform cell search and search the synchronization of various cells in the communications system. A receiver acquires frame synchronization starting point and calculates correlation value about a cell 1 and a cell 2(301). The receiver acquires frame synchronization starting point and calculates correlation value about a cell 3 and a cell 4(303). The receiver determines a cell having maximum correlation value corresponding to the cell 1 or the cell 4(305). The receiver determines the cell 4 which is a serving cell is an adjacent cell(307). The receiver calculates the correlation value about the cell 1 which is the serving cell.
