Abstract: A method for measuring misregistration of an image forming apparatus is provided to correctly recognize vertical misregistration and horizontal misregistration and numerically detect a degree of the misregistration. A first pattern(110) composed of a plurality of lines arranged in parallel at a predetermined angle is formed using one of a plurality of cartridges of an image forming apparatus. A second pattern(120) composed of a plurality of lines arranged in the same width as the first pattern is formed using another one of the plurality of cartridges. Critical points(140a,140b) are formed at a position having a distance from the center of the uppermost line of at least one of the first and second patterns. The first pattern is superposed on the second pattern so that misregistration of the first and second patterns is measured.

The power supply unit supplies developing power to the developing device. The sensing unit senses the density of an image formed by the image forming unit. The control unit controls the power supply unit to adjust the level of the developing power when the senseed density is not included into a permitted limit.
