Abstract: PURPOSE: A data transfer equipment of a high speed packet access system and a method thereof are provided to improve uplink data rate by allocating power of HS-DPCCH(High-Speed Dedicated Physical Control Channel) to an E-DPDCH(Enhanced-Dedicated Physical Data Channel). CONSTITUTION: A terminal transmits packet data, quality indication information and response information of the terminal through an uplink channel to a base station. The base station compares a terminal packet buffer and the packet buffer of the base station with the critical value(515, 517). If a turbo mode flag is set(519), the transmission power allocated in the other transmitter is allocated to the transmission power of the packet data transmission.
