Abstract: An apparatus and a method for correcting a projected image are provided to correct a projected image by reflecting a geometrical characteristic of a screen on a calculated projection surface, there more accuately modeling the geometrical characteristic of the projection surface. An apparatus(100) for correcting a projected image comprises an encoding unit(110), a projection unit(120), a photographing unit(130), a preprocessor(140), a detection unit(150), a decoding unit(160), a matching block(170), a correction value calculation unit(180), a storage unit(190) and a correction unit(195). The projection unit projects an image for correction and a series of coding images having a different color pattern to a projection surface. The correction value calculation unit calculates a geometrical characteristic based on the projected correction image and the first and second photographing images in which a series of coding images is photographed. The correction unit corrects an input image to be projected on the projection surface by reflecting the calculated geometrical characteristic of the projection surface.
