Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for offering a user interface of a portable terminal is provided to easily change a screen through a selection window, there increasing convenience of a user. CONSTITUTION: A portable terminal detects activation of an IM(Instant Messenger)(S101). The portable terminal outputs a user interface screen of the IM(S103). If a selection window is not activated, the portable terminal performs a corresponding function(S105,S107). If the selection window is activated, the portable terminal executes a function selected by the selection window(S109). If an end signal is inputted, the portable terminal ends the IM(S111).
