    Abstract: PURPOSE: Channel quality information, beam index reporting method, and an apparatus thereof are provided to decide and report the channel quality information. CONSTITUTION: A control unit selects at least one beam for the channel quality reporting (1210). The control unit maps the indices of at least one selected beam to at least one channel quality value (1215). According to the mapping, a transmitting unit transmits the channel quality information of at least one selected beam (1225). The control unit measures the channel quality parameter related to the signals received from a plurality of beam.     Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for a base station (BS) and mobile station (MS). The BS configures an uplink sounding channel made up of at least one orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol in an uplink slot. The BS signals the use and the location of different configurations of the uplink sounding channel to the MS through a system configuration broadcast message. The uplink sounding channel comprises OFDM symbols. In this case, at least one of subcarrier spacing and a sampling frequency is different from that of an OFDM symbol used for data transmission. Each OFDM symbol comprises a sounding reference symbol corresponding to at least one transmit beam and is received by at least one receive beam to form at least one transmit-receive beam pair. The transmit-receive beam pair for UL-SRS in different OFDM symbols are different. The configuration of sounding channel is based on information received from adjacent BSs through inter-BS coordination over a pre-defined interface.
