Abstract: A compliant joint is provided to implement manual compliance in a robot in order to prevent damage in case of a collision between a human and the robot. A compliant joint comprises a housing(10), a cam member rotating in the housing, an expandable roller spring device(20) mounted on the cam member, a guide member(11) provided in the housing to guide contraction or expansion of the roller spring device as the cam member rotates, and a mounting groove formed in the guide member so that the cam member is coupled with the housing when the roller spring device is seated in the mounting groove. When the roller spring device is separated from the mounting groove, coupling between the cam member and the housing in the mounting groove is released. The roller spring device includes a roller member(21) that faces the guide member and a spring member(22) connected with the roller member.
