    Abstract: PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and method thereof are provided to increase rendering speed and to reduce the amount of operation in case of performing three dimensional rendering. CONSTITUTION: A first calculation unit performs ray tracing operation about a first pixel and a second pixel of an image. The first calculation unit calculates first geometry information corresponding to the first pixel. A second calculation unit(120) determines the similarity of second geometry information and first geometry information.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A rendering method for indirect illumination effect is provided to maximize physical accuracy compared with calculation time by minimizing an approximate calculation part in consideration of all paths of light corresponding to an indirect illumination part. CONSTITUTION: Visual information is generated through a visibility test about all pixels of a scene(S210). A general photon map and a non-diffuse photon map are respectively generated(S220). Simplified mesh information is generated(S230). An irradiance map of texture form is generated(S240). Through the irradiance map, the effect of a diffuse reflection irradiance is repetitively calculated about all pixels(S250). The effect of non-diffuse reflection irradiance is calculated(S270).
