    Abstract: The present invention relates to a rail breakage monitoring system using optical cables. The rail breakage monitoring system has an optical connector attached to a side of a rail and receives the variation of a wave reflected by the vibration of the optical connector generated by physical shock due to rail breakage and analyzes the reflected wave to monitor and detect the point of the rail breakage can the size and depth of the crack on a real-time basis. The rail breakage monitoring system according to the present invention includes: the optical connector attached on the side of the rail; the optical cables connected to the optical connector to transmit or receive light; and an optical sensor relay unit which receives the light transmitted through the optical cables to conduct a comparison analysis and a control operation and provides the analysis data to a monitoring system in a station machine room.
