Abstract: 조명 정규화 방법 및 장치가 개시된다. 조명 정규화 장치는 입력 영상의 각각의 화소에 대해 미리 정해진 방법에 의해 불연속성 측정값을 산출하는 불연속성 측정부-여기서, 상기 불연속성 측정값은 공간적 경사도의 측정값 및 지역적 비유사성의 측정값임-; 상기 불연속성 측정값을 미리 정해진 전달함수를 이용하여 각 화소에 대한 각각의 가중치를 산출하는 가중치 연산부; 상기 각각의 가중치를 입력 받아 미리 정해진 컨볼루션 연산을 미리 설정된 반복 회수만큼 수행하여 조명을 추정하는 조명 추정부; 및 상기 입력 영상에서 상기 추정된 조명을 차감하여 조명을 정규화하는 조명 정규화부를 포함한다. 본 발명에 따르면, 객체의 특징과 유사한 불연속성을 지니는 국부적인 음영을 효과적으로 제거 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for illumination normalization are provided to remove a shadow having discontinuity similar to object's properties effectively by using two discontinuous measuring methods and use a new transfer function when connecting the two discontinuous measuring methods, thereby removing a shadow without deteriorating object's properties. A weight calculating unit(130) calculates each weight with regard to each pixel by using a predetermined transfer function. An illumination estimating unit(140) performs a predetermined convolution operation as much as set repetition times by receiving each weight to measure illumination. An illumination normalization unit(150) normalizes illumination by removing the estimated illumination from an input image.
