Abstract: The present invention relates to method and system for controlling a bandwidth of traffic based on a fuzzy logic. For the purpose of the present invention, the present invention provides a method for controlling a bit torrent traffic bandwidth by separating a bit torrent traffic among traffic transmitted and received in a network using a fuzzy logic-based mechanism combining one or more traffic classification technologies and by controlling the bandwidth of the separated bit torrent traffic. The present invention provides a system for controlling a bit torrent traffic bandwidth including: an input stage for receiving traffic transmitted and received in a network, a sub module stage for primarily classifying the traffic inputted through the input stage; a main technique stage for verifying a state of the traffic using a port-based classification method and an experience-based classification method; a decision module stage for comparing the result outputted from the technique stage after normalizing with a predetermined threshold value and for judging whether the traffic is a bit torrent traffic or not; and a traffic shaping stage for controlling the bandwidth of the judged bit torrent traffic.
