Abstract: An antimicrobial and antiviral composition comprising natural products is provided, which composition has a wide range of antimicrobial and antiviral activity against food poisoning causing bacteria including gram positive and negative bacteria, and preserves freshness of food. The antimicrobial and antiviral composition comprises 0.1 to 1% of chitosan; natural product extracts of Japanese apricot(maesil), garlic and Prunus persica(L) BATSCH.; or organic components such as citric acid, lactic acid and malic acid, wherein the microorganism is selected from Stapylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica serova Thphimurium isolate, Salmonella enterica serova Enteritidis, Listeria onocytogenes, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Salmonella enterica serova Thphi isolate and Shigella sonnei human isolate; and the virus is selected from Canine parvovirus, Canine distemper virus Lederle straine and Transmissible gastroenteritis virus.
