Abstract: An antimicrobial and antiviral composition containing natural products is provided to inhibit growth of pathogenic bacteria and viruses, especially pathogenic bacteria and viruses capable of infecting poultry, without environmental pollution, so that the composition is useful for sterilization of stall, poultry body and poultry drinking water. The antimicrobial and antiviral composition contains the natural products including malic acid, grape fruit extract, peppermint oil, maesil(Japanese Apricot) extract, citric acid and chitosan, wherein the amount of grape fruit extract is 1-30 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of malic acid; the bacterium is Salmonella cholerasuis, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus suis, Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli or Vibrio parahaemolyticus; and the virus is avian influenza virus, foot and mouth disease virus, hog cholera virus, transmissible gastroenteritis virus, canine parvo virus or canine distemper virus.
