Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing tomato extract for preventing or treating hearing impairment is provided to effectively suppress hearing threshold reduction. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating hearing impairment caused by peripheral neuropathy contains tomato extract as an active ingredient. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating obesity contains the tomato extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared by extracting tomato using water, alcohol of C14, or mixture thereof. A food composition for preventing or treating hearing impairment contains the tomato extract as an active ingredient.
