Abstract: An engine control system for fire prevention and a method thereof are provided to react fire preventive disposition rapidly because the vehicle is rapidly converted to a security mode. An engine control system for fire prevention and a method thereof comprise a sensor unit(110) which senses the state of a vehicle and outputs it in an electric signal; and a controller(120) which determines safety mode conversion based on the outputted electric signal. According to the determination, the controller converts the vehicle from the normal mode to the security mode and deactivates a part of the engine of vehicle when the vehicle is in the security mode. The sensor unit comprises a vehicular speed sensor(111), a engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute) sensor(112), an accelerator position sensor(113), a speed changing lever position detection sensor(114), a cooling water thermal sensor(115), an oil thermal sensor(116) and a parking brake detection sensor(117).
