Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for generating depth information of an object and a method thereof. The object depth information generating apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a structured light radiating unit which radiates structured light which has a preset pattern to a target object; an image obtaining unit which obtains an image in which the structured light is radiated to the target object; a pattern matching unit which matches a pattern of structured light which is extracted from the image with a pattern of the radiated structured light; a distance information obtaining unit which obtains distance information from a specific pattern of a preset area among patterns of structured light which is radiated to the target object; and a depth information generating unit which generates the obtained distance information and depth information of the target object by using a distortion of the pattern of the radiated structured light and the pattern of the structured light which is extracted from the image. According to the forementioned, the present invention is able to generate more accurate depth information of an object about a target object by matching a pattern of structured light which is radiated to the target object with a structured light pattern of an image which photographs the same by using distance information of the target object.
