    Abstract: The present invention relates to a Lactobacillus brevis K203 strain producing gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) and a method using the same for producing GABA. The L.brevis K203 strain of the present invention is identified by analyzing a base sequence of 16S rDNA and using Gram staining method; and GABA in a culture medium is refined by freezing and drying after performing a thin film chromatography and an ion exchange chromatography. Therefore, the present invention has an advantage that the L.brevis K203 strain producing GABA in high yield and characteristics thereof are capable of being applied to mass production of GABA.
