Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for reducing measuring times to detect defects on tires is provided to maximize productivity by reduction in measuring times for defect detection, since the defect detection of both side walls and a tread is completed without the re-insertion of tires into a vacuum chamber. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for reducing measuring times to detect defects on tires comprises a first roller unit(10), a second roller unit(20), a driving unit(30), and a non-destructive measuring unit. The first roller unit is lifted from the bottom surface of the vacuum chamber to stop or pass a tire(2) erectly inserted into a vacuum chamber(1). The second roller unit is lifted from the bottom surface of the vacuum chamber to lift and separate the tire, stopped by the first roller unit, from the bottom surface of the vacuum chamber or pass the tire. The drive unit drives one between the first and second roller units to rotate the tire. The non-destructive measuring unit detects defects by photographing both side walls and treads during the rotation of the tire by the drive unit.
