    Abstract: PURPOSE: A system for charging a battery of an electric vehicle at a parking lot and a method thereof are provided to include a charging connection unit moving to the top of the parking lot, to guide a vehicle to an empty parking block after identifying whether the vehicle entering the parking lot is the electric vehicle or not, to move the vehicle to the parking block, and to charge the battery right after parking. CONSTITUTION: A system for charging a battery of an electric vehicle(1) at a parking lot includes an electric vehicle terminal(70), an electric vehicle detecting unit(10), a charging management unit(20), and a charging system(100). The electric vehicle terminal installed in the electric vehicle is wirelessly connected to a wire and wireless data communications network(150). The electric vehicle terminal manages charging state information about an amount of charging the battery of the electric vehicle. The electric vehicle detecting unit installed at the entrance of each floor of the parking lot obtains vehicle information of the electric vehicle entering the parking lot and transmits the vehicle information to the wire and wireless communication network. Based on received vehicle information, the charging management unit is wirelessly connected to the electric vehicle terminal of a corresponding electric vehicle through the wire and wireless data communications network. The charging management unit transmits a parking block moving command by asking a parking management system for a parking guide request and receiving an empty parking block through the electric vehicle terminal. The charging system including a charging unit(30) receives the parking block moving command and moves to the parking block included in the parking block moving command in order to charge the battery when the electric vehicle is parked in the parking block.
