Abstract: PURPOSE: An emotion recognition device using facial expressions and a control method are provided to measure the change for the facial expressions of an object, thereby objectively distinguishing the emotions which the object feels. CONSTITUTION: A camera (121) obtains a first image for a first object corresponding to emotions which are classified by a predetermined reference. A user input unit (130) receives a first frame of the first image from a user. A control unit (180) recognizes the face of the first object which is included in the first frame. The control unit extracts the facial component of the first object by using the face. The control unit extracts change patterns for the emotions by using the facial component. A memory (160) stores the change patterns for the emotions.
