Abstract: A colored composition useful for the preparation of a color filter, and a method for preparing the composition are provided to improve spectral characteristics and to increase the brightness of white. A colored composition comprises a pigment carrier which comprises a transparent resin, its precursor, or a mixture of a transparent resin and its precursor; and a red pigment having an absorbance of 8.0-14.0 at 400-575 nm. Also a colored composition comprises a pigment carrier which comprises a transparent resin, its precursor, or a mixture of a transparent resin and its precursor; and a green pigment having an absorbance of 11.2-13.0 at 600-700 nm.
