Abstract: A colored composition for a color filter is provided to improve a contrast ratio, to implement ideal retardation, and to obtain a color filter with visibility in a forward direction. A colored composition for a color filter comprises pigment carrier consisting of resins, precursors thereof and their mixtures; pigment; and a melamine compound having a methylol imino group. The content of the melamine compound is 2~30 weight% based on the weight of pigment. The melamine compound is a melamine compound represented by chemical formula 1 or condensate thereof. In chemical formula 1, R1~R4 are independently CH2OCH3, CH2OC4H9, H or CH2OH.
