Disclosed is a non-aqueous ink composition for ink-jet recording, comprising (A) an urethane resin dispersant having an acidic functional group, (B) a pigment and (C) an organic solvent [and optionally (D) a thermally reactive compound]. The dispersant (A) is a branched urethane resin dispersant prepared by polymerizing an isocyanate-terminated compound (p) with a compound (c) having one or more acidic groups and two or more hydroxyl groups and a polyol compound (q) having two or more hydroxyl groups between which 1 to 30 atoms are interposed, under hydroxyl-excess conditions. The isocyanate-terminated compound (p) is prepared by reacting a polyisocyanate (a) having three or more isocyanate groups with a monoalcohol (b) at such a ratio that the ratio of the number of moles of an isocyanate group derived from the component (a) (Ma) to that of a hydroxyl group derived from the component (b) (Mb) becomes 3/2 to 3/0.5 by mole. The polyisocyanate (a) is used in an amount of 25 to 60% by weight relative to the total amount of volatile components of the dispersant (A).

A coloring composition is provided to ensure excellent dispersibility, fluidity and preserving stability while showing high pigment concentration, by using zinc phthalocyanine pigment with excellent coloring property. A coloring composition comprises solvent(A), pigment(B) and basic dispersing agent(C). The solvent(A) comprises at least one kind of solvent selected from the group consisting of the solvent (A-1) represented by the chemical formula 1: CH3-C(=O)-O-(CnH2nO)m-C(=O)-CH3, and the solvent (A-2) represented by the chemical formula 2: -(O-C3H6)p-O-C(=O)-CH3. A coloring resin composition which comprises at least a pigment, a pigment derivative, a melamine compound or benzoguanamine compound, and a resin having one or more kinds of phosphate groups or a resin comprising units of a monomer represented by a specific structural formula. The composition has satisfactory chemical resistance. Optimizing the resin structure and optimizing the makeup of the coloring resin composition enable the composition to have a low viscosity and satisfactory long-term viscosity stability when used as a coating material or ink having a high pigment concentration, and enable the composition to have a low viscosity and satisfactory delivery stability while retaining resistances when used as an ink-jet ink. With this ink-jet ink, high-performance color filter substrates, packages, outdoor signboards, etc. can be far more efficiently produced as compared with conventional methods.
