Abstract: PURPOSE: Mimotope peptides of phenolic glycolipid-I(PGL-I) of Mycobacterium leprae and a kit for serodiagnosis of leprosy containing the same are provided, thereby substituting expensive PGL-I with the cheap mimotope peptide of PGL-I. Therefore, the cost for serodiagnosis of leprosy can be decreased. CONSTITUTION: Mimotope peptides of phenolic glycolipid-I(PGL-I) of Mycobacterium leprae have the amino acid sequence of WTLGPYV, WRLGPYV or WTLGPYM. A conjugate of the mimotope peptides of phenolic glycolipid-I(PGL-I) of Mycobacterium leprae and bovine serum albumin(BSA) is provided. A kit for serodiagnosis of leprosy contains the mimotope peptides of phenolic glycolipid-I(PGL-I) of Mycobacterium leprae or the conjugate of the mimotope peptides of phenolic glycolipid-I(PGL-I) of Mycobacterium leprae and bovine serum albumin(BSA).
