Abstract: The phase controlled rectifier and the integral control algorithm are adopted to regulate output voltage of permanent magnet type vehicle generator. The voltage regulator comprises a phase controlled rectifier including three thyristors and three diodes for regulating stator coil terminal voltage regardless of rotating speed of the permanent magnet rotor, inductors for smoothing current ripple of output current of the rectifier, and an integral controller for calculating firing angle of thyristors utilizing the fact that rectifier output voltage ripple forms the same pattern regardless of firing angle of the thyristor.
