    Abstract: PURPOSE: A silica aerogel supported catalyst, and a methane conversion method using thereof are provided to induce the methane activation at the low temperature, and to secure the excellent yield of C2 hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION: A silica aerogel supported catalyst contains a silica aerogel carrier, and sodium tungstate and a manganese oxide supported inside the silica aerogel carrier. The content weight ratio of the sodium tungstate and the manganese oxide is 1~7:1~4. A methane conversion method using the catalyst comprises the following steps: supporting an active component to the silica aerogel carrier; drying the silica aerogel carrier containing the active component and plasticizing.
