Abstract: The bleaching earth is prepd. by heat-treating kaolin (below 80 mesh, without calcination) with sulfuric acid (80-100% amts. to alumina eq. in kaolin, maintained concn. of 30-50%) under reflux temp.. Therefore, alumina content and surface area of alumina are controlled to 10-20% and 200-300 m2/g respectively.
