    Abstract: The method for producing a zinc oxide varistor is characterized by (a) crushing and drying a mixture of zinc oxide, antimony oxide, cobalt oxide, manganese oxide and bismuth oxide, (b) pressure-molding and sintering it at 1200-1450 deg.C to obtain a sintered material, (c) coating a coating agent on the both sides of the material and heating the coated material at 1000 deg.C, and (d) forming an electrode on them. The coating agent is obtained by mixing a metal oxide composed of lead oxide, bismuth oxide and borax with a flux. The varistor can decrease an electrical characteristic change.
