    Abstract: PURPOSE: Disclosed is an apparatus for treating wastewater electrochemically, in particular for treating high concentration wastewater by using electrolytic oxidation reaction adopting insoluble catalytic electrodes and a conductive floating catalyst, thereby free of additional chemicals or processes. CONSTITUTION: A reactor mainly consists of a power supplying means (1), an aerator (6), a plurality of air injection holes (10), a plurality of cathodes (4), a plurality of anodes (2). Wastewater which is stored in a storage basin (5) flows into the reactor (9) through an inlet port (8), and discharged through an outlet port (7) after contacting with anodes, cathodes, and conductive floating catalyst (3). The anode made by immobilizing Ru-Ir-Sn oxides on the surface of titanium plate decomposes organics and color-causing materials, dissolved heavy metals in wastewater are electrodeposited on the surface of cathode made of iron or nickel plate. Also, the floating titanium/iron catalyst coated with iron oxides accelerates organics decomposition through chemical reaction with hydrogen peroxide generated in the surface of anodes. In the reactor, anodes and cathodes are installed to be different height each other for maximizing contacting area between wastewater and each electrode, and aeration is accompanied to both separate bubbles generated in the each electrode and maintain wastewater flow stable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A system for simultaneously removing organics, solids, nitrogen and phosphorus by alternated aeration is provided, which is characterized in that only two submerged filtering reactors are additionally installed to conventional biological process. Two submerged filtering reactors are operated with alternated aeration, so anoxic and aerobic conditions are built alternately. CONSTITUTION: The system is composed of the following parts continuously: an anaerobic tank(1), two submerged filtering reactors(2)(3), a contact oxidation tank(4), and a sedimentation tank(5). For increasing treatment efficiency, media is packed into two submerged filtering reactors(2)(3). Quantity of packed media is 3/5 of depth of reactor for synergistic effect of attached microorganism and suspended microorganism.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: Disclosed is a wastewater treatment system with a pair of biofilm reactors being interconnected each other, in which one biofilm reactor is operated in an aerobic condition, the other biofilm reactor is operated in an anaerobic condition. Wastewater flows into the upper mouth of an anaerobic reactor, travels through the anaerobic reactor into the upper mouth of an aerobic reactor via a pair of interconnecting pipes (6A, 6B). In addition, back-washing is conducted periodically to prevent clogging of packed media and back-wash water travels through a storage tank (13) into a flow equalization tank (2). CONSTITUTION: This wastewater treatment system consists of a pair of biofilm reactors being interconnected each other in which two diffusers (11A, 11B) are installed at each reactor respectively, and pipes (10A, 10B) for back washing are installed at the bottom of each reactor; interconnecting pipes (6A, 6B) cross-interconnecting two biofilm reactors.
