Abstract: 본 발명은 신규 고분자 기재인 폴리(2-(폴리(에틸렌글리콜)옥시카르보닐)비시크로 [2.2.1]헵타-2.5-디엔) 및 액정과의 혼합물에 알칼리 금속염을 첨가하여 우수한 전기적 광학적 성질을 지니는 용매증발법에 의한 고분자액정복합막 제조방법에 관한 것으로서, 형성된 복합막 내의 이온전도도의 증가로 인하여 전기장 개폐시 초기 구동전압이 낮고 빠른 응답속도를 나타내는 특성을 갖고 있다. 이는 복합막 내부에 분산되어 있는 알칼리 금속염 이온들 때문에 이온전도도가 증가하기 때문이다. 본 발명은 광, 전기 특성 향상을 위한 신규 고분자 기재 폴리(2-(폴리(에틸렌글리콜)옥시카르보닐) 비시클로[2.2.1]헵타-2,5-디엔)의 합성법과 그의 이온전도도 효과를 이용한 고분자액정복합막의 제조방법에 관한 것이다.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A novel polymer matrix of poly(2-poly(ethylene glycol)oxycarbonyl)bicyclo(2,2,1)hepta-2,5-hepta-diene and its manufacturing method are provided. Also, a polymer dispersed liquid crystal containing the same, which has improved optical and electrical properties due to increased ion conductivity, and its manufacturing method is also provided. CONSTITUTION: The poly(2-poly(ethylene glycol)oxycarbonyl)bicyclo(2,2,1)hepta-2,5-hepta-diene is represented by the following general formula (III) and prepared by radical polymerizing poly(ethylene glycol)propionate represented by the following general formula (I); prepared by a condensation reaction of propionic acid and polyethylene glycol and 2-(poly(ethylene glycol)oxycarbonyl)bicyclo(2,2,1)hepta-2,5-diene represented by the following general formula (II); and prepared by a Diels-Alder reaction of cyclopentadiene. The polymer dispersed liquid crystal comprises: (i) 100 part weight of the poly(2-poly(ethylene glycol)oxycarbonyl)bicyclo92,2,10hepta-2,5-hepta-diene; (ii) 40-80 part by weight of liquid crystal; and (iii) 20-80 part by weigh of an alkali metallic salt. The polymer dispersed liquid crystal is prepared by: (i) dissolving poly(2-poly(ethylene glycol)oxycarbonyl)bicyclo(2,2,1)hepta-2,5-hepta-diene, liquid crystal and alkali metallic salt in a solvent selected from tetrahydrofuran, methanol or acetoneto prepare a uniform mixture; and (ii) coating transparent conductive layer coated indium-tin-oxide glass base plate with the mixture and then heating the glass base plate at a temperature of 5-80 deg.C to evaporate the solvent remaining in the mixture.
