An apparatus for vicarious service using a wide-area situational awareness, a service system using the same and a method therefor are provided to supply various services at a low cost. An agent device(300) for a broadband situation recognition service includes a situation data collector(310), a broadband situation monitoring engine(320), and a service agent unit(330). The situation data collector receives the broadband situation information from an additional broadband situation information provider, and the broadband situation monitoring engine performs the monitoring for the received broadband situation information. The service agent unit receives a request on broadband situation recognition service provision from the additional broadband situation information provider and transmits the monitoring results to the service provider and a client.

Abstract:
A context monitoring device for supporting context monitoring and a context monitoring method are provided to stop operation of an unnecessary sensor when context monitoring necessary for context recognition application programs is performed, thereby efficiently conducting monitoring. A CMQ(Context Monitoring Query) processor(130) stores requested CMQs, receives sensor data from sensors to monitor whether the stored CMQs are satisfactory, and transmits an event according to the monitored results. An RSC(Reduced Source Cover) manager(140) controls activation of the sensors, so that data only of context factors belonging to an RSC set necessary for deciding whether the CMQs are satisfactory is generated among the received sensor data. A data processor(120) receives a sensor data(SDATA), extracts a characteristic value(FDATA) from the sensor data if necessary, and provides the CMQ processor with the sensor data or the characteristic value as an input value.
