Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for blocking the outflow of a fluid in the event of ship accidents are provided to shield various sizes of damaged portions quickly in the event of ship accidents, thereby preventing the outflow of pollutive fluid. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for blocking the outflow of a fluid in the event of ship accidents comprises a shielding mechanism(10), a compressed gas storage space, a housing(20), and a sensor. The shielding mechanism has a flexibility to be transformed to contact a hull from the inside of the ship and shield a damaged portion. The compressed gas storage space stores compressed gas for expanding the shielding mechanism. The housing accommodates the shielding mechanism in a contracted state. The sensor detects the outflow of a fluid through the damaged portion.
