    Abstract: PURPOSE: A system and a method for measuring length of reinforcing bar are provided to detect the faults of laid reinforcing bar by measuring the length of reinforcing bar regardless of the properties of a medium. CONSTITUTION: A system for measuring length of reinforcing bar comprises a shocking unit(100), a sensor(200), an analyzing unit(300). A part of the shocking unit applies shock to a reinforcing bar by being installed at the end of an exposed reinforcing bar. The sensor detects incident wave and a reflected wave. The incident wave, which is generated by the impact of the shocking unit, enters along longitudinal direction of the reinforcing bar. The reflected wave is reflected at the inside of the reinforcing bar. The analyzing unit calculates the time interval of the incident wave and the reflected wave, and calculates the length of the reinforcing bar by using the time interval , and the intrinsic propagation velocity of the reinforcing bar.
