Abstract: PURPOSE: A traffic information providing system using a hi-pass and a method thereof are provided to use pass information of a front point based on a hi-pass, thereby distinguishing a driving direction. CONSTITUTION: A road side base station includes a hi-pass terminal, an antenna, a main controller, and an optical switching hub. The main controller controls all road side base stations. A DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) center unit comprises a probe server, an authentication server, an operating and maintaining terminal, and an optical switching hub. The probe server comprises a storage device for generating and storing sectional traffic information. The authentication server authenticates communication connection of a road side base station.
