    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for preparing foam is provided to improve the mechanical strength comprising the split tear strength and the compression set of foam by using a metal-based cross-linking aid. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of adding a cross-linking agent and a foaming agent to a base which comprises an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer, an ethylene/propylene-α-olefin copolymer or their mixtures, a mixture of an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer, a styrene-based copolymer thermoplastic resin or ethylene vinyl acetate resin and rubber, or a mixture of an ethylene/propylene-α-olefin copolymer, a styrene-based copolymer thermoplastic resin or ethylene vinyl acetate resin and rubber; adding 0.1-5 parts by weight of a metal-based cross-linking aid based on 100 parts by weight of the base to the mixture; and cross-linking and foaming the mixture. Preferably the metal-based cross-linking aid is selected from the group consisting of zinc diacrylate, zinc dimethacrylate, zinc methacrylate, modified zinc methacrylate, modified zinc acrylate, modified zinc diacrylate and their mixtures.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is a composition of high quality thermoplastic rubber which has good abrasion resistant, tearing strength and tensile strength properties. Conventional thermoplastic rubber is used in cheap products because it has poor mechanical strength and abrasion strength compared with thermoset rubber whose main use is a shoe sole material. CONSTITUTION: The composition comprises polystyrene thermoplastic rubber alone or thermoplastic resins such as thermoplastic olefin resin, ethylene/α-olefin copolymer, ethylene/vinylacetate copolymer in a ratio of 5-25wt.% to the polystyrene or blend with thermoset resins like natural rubber, synthetic rubber in the amount of not interfering thermoplastic character which is 3-15wt.%, together with usual additives such as an anti-oxidant, an anti-abrasion agent, a UV stabilizer and an improver for processing like silicone oil or silicone rubber of 0.5-7wt.%. The composition is characterized in that 5-25wt.% cheap shoe sole scraps of thermoplastic rubber is utilized and the melt flow index (MFI) is 0.01-10.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is a method for manufacturing impact absorbing foamed body which has an impact absorption property while maintaining mechanical properties of the foamed body commonly used for shoes, such as hardness, specific gravity, and etc. CONSTITUTION: The method for manufacturing the foamed body includes foaming a thermoplastic rubber having a block copolymer formed with a soft block of unsaturated or saturated polyisoprene and a hard block of polystyrene, in which the soft block has a glass transition temperature(Tg) of -20 to 20 deg.C. The thermoplastic rubber is blended with ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer, ethylene-alphaolefin copolymer, ethylene-ethylacrylate copolymer, polyethylene resin, styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer, and styrene-isoprene-styrene copolymer. The ratio of the blended copolymer to the thermoplastic rubber is 10 to 90 weight parts based on the 100 weight parts of the thermoplastic rubber.
