    Abstract: PURPOSE: A bipolar plate for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell is provided, to allow the distribution of pressure of reaction gas to be maintained uniformly on the whole bipolar plate, thereby improving the structural stability of the stack of a fuel cell and the performance and durability of a fuel cell by the uniform generation of electricity and heat. CONSTITUTION: The bipolar plate is such that a channel band(21) comprising a plurality parallel gas path channels(21A) is formed in the two outermost part of the one surface of the bipolar plate along the two opposite sides(S1, S2), is turned perpendicularly at the position just before it meets the another two sides(S3, S4) perpendicular to the sides(S1, S2), extends along the two opposite sides(S3, S4), and is turned perpendicularly just before its meets the channel band to proceed parallel with the channel band, thereby the channel bands(21, 21'') started from the two side parts meet each other the central part of the surface of the bipolar plate and form a gas path channel band(21).
