Abstract: The present invention relates to a converter for driving an LED and a driving method thereof, more particularly, to a converter for driving an LED and a driving method thereof capable of improving a power factor, reducing the number of external devices, and controlling the brightness of the LED at several steps at the same time. Abstract: 본 발명은 발광소자 구동용 컨버터 및 이의 구동 방법에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 외부소자를 줄이면서 역률을 개선하는 동시에 발광소자의 밝기를 여러 단계로 조절할 수 있도록 한 발광소자 구동용 컨버터 및 이의 구동 방법에 관한 것이다.
즉, 본 발명은 외부 저항소자 및 커패시터를 비롯한 내부 멀티플라이어를 배제하는 등 보다 간단한 회로 구성만으로도 고조파 규제 및 역률 개선이 이루어질 수 있음을 물론, LED 발광소자의 밝기 조절부를 집적화하여 사용자가 손쉽게 LED 발광소자의 밝기를 여러 단계로 조절할 수 있도록 한 발광소자 구동용 컨버터 및 이의 구동 방법를 제공하고자 한 것이다.
