Abstract: PURPOSE: A parallel-combined adaptive communication system for supporting a multiple transmission rate and a method using the same are provided to variably decide a data transmission rate by the combination of the number of spread codes selected for data transmission, between entire spread codes included in a base station and spare spread codes allocated to a terminal station, and to minutely regulate a data transmission rate by using a spread code repeating method. CONSTITUTION: A transmission unit(31) of a base station receives information on a service kind, to decide a transmission rate of data appropriate for a service. The transmission unit(31) decides the values of spread code numbers(Mr,Mc). Data are diffused by using the selected Mc of spread codes. If data spread is completed, a repetition number of spread codes is decided to regulate a desired data transmission rate. A receiving unit(32) of a terminal station reversely performs the operations performed in the transmission unit(31). The receiving unit(32) decides transmitted spread codes, and decides receiving data according to the received spread codes.
