Abstract: A linearizer having an inter-modulation distorter is provided to set an accurate signal level of a distortion signal by separately controlling phases and levels of the distortion signal and an original signal, respectively. A first hybrid coupler(100) divides an input signal into an in-phase component and a quadrature component. An inter-modulation distortion signal generator(102) receives the in-phase component and generates a non-linear signal. A phase fixer(104) fixes the quadrature component to a desired phase and outputs a first linear signal. A second hybrid coupler(106) outputs a second linear signal and an inter-modulation distortion signal. The second linear signal is formed by mixing the linear signal with the non-linear signal and inverting the mixed result. The second hybrid coupler outputs the inter-modulation distortion signal having an adjustable non-linear signal level. The inter-modulation distortion signal generator has a reflective structure and generates the inter-modulation distortion signal with the adjustable non-linear signal level according to a control signal using a 3-terminal active element.
