Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating bone disease is provided to decrease bone resorption and enhance bone formation by using a baicalein. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating bone disease comprises a baicalein of the chemical formula 1 as an active ingredient. The bone disease is selected from osteoporosis, fracture, periodontal disease and bone growth failure. The baicalein is contained in the amount of 0.0001-50 weight% based on total weight. The composition further comprises a pharmaceutically allowable additive.
