    Abstract: PURPOSE: A noble porous catalyst which is used as catalyst in hydroxylation of phenol using hydrogen peroxide as oxidizer to enable selective synthesis of catechol is provided. CONSTITUTION: In a catalyst applied to a process for synthesizing dihydroxybenzene by oxidizing phenol with hydrogen peroxide, the porous catalyst for selective synthesis of catechol is characterized in that ions of transition metal (M1) and ions of another metal (M2) selected from alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and a mixture thereof are simultaneously ion exchanged in porous molecular body of aluminosilicate by the catalyst, wherein the porous molecular body has pore size of at least 7 to 200 Å and Si/Al ratio of 1 to 200, wherein the porous molecular body is selected from HX type, HY type, USHY type, HBEA type, MCM-41, MCM-48 and SBA-15, wherein the transition metal (M1) is one or two metals selected from iron, copper, manganese and cobalt, wherein the transition metal (M1) has an ion exchange ratio of 50 to 90%, and wherein the metal (M2) selected from alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and a mixture thereof has an ion exchange ratio of 5 to 20%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: Provided is a method for alkylating hydroxylated aromatic compounds by using a porous solid acid catalyst, which has high selectivity and conversion rate. The alkylated derivatives of the hydroxylated aromatic compounds can be used for antioxidants, synthetic resins, polymerization-inhibitors, film developers, and etc. CONSTITUTION: The hydroxylated aromatic compounds are alkylated by reacting them with an alkylating agent in the presence of the porous solid acid catalyst at a temperature of 50-200 deg.C and a pressure of 1-20. The porous solid acid catalyst has a pore size of 2-20 angstrom and comprises silicon oxides and aluminium oxides, wherein the molar ratio of silicon/aluminium is 3-100. The hydroxylated aromatic compounds are phenol, catechol, hydroquinone. The alkylating agent is C3-C6 olefin compounds such as isobutylene or alcohol such as tertiary-butanol.
