    Abstract: A method for preparing light olefin trimer for high boiling point alkylate is provided to produce the trimer which is used as raw material of neo-acid and/or transferred into the alkylate useful for manufacturing high quality solvent or diesel additives by using hydrogen based cation exchange catalyst having macro-pores to conduct oligomeration of olefins. A method includes the steps of: using a hydrogen based ion exchange resin catalyst which has macro-pores of more than 5nm; and conducting oligomeration of olefins while maintaining olefin conversion rate of more than 60% and, in turn, achieving trimer selectivity of more than 50%. The method is conducted at 50 to 100deg.C and a space velocity of 2 to 100h^(-1). The ion exchange resin catalyst has acid point formed of -SO3H functional group. Hydrogen ion exchange capacity of the catalyst is at least 2 equivalent H^+/kg-resin. The olefin is isobutene. The obtained olefin trimer is used to produce high boiling point alkylate through hydrogenation of the trimer.

    Abstract: A method for preparing a butene trimer from the butene containing various components, and a method for preparing a high viscosity alkylate by using the butene trimer are provided to improve the selectivity to a butene trimer. A method for preparing a butene trimer from the butene containing various components comprises the steps of oligomerizing a butene isomer mixture in the presence of a porous acid catalyst; and isomerizing the isomerized butene obtained as a by-product by the oligomerization so as to recirculate it into the oligomerization or to provide it for dehydrogenation. Preferably the butene isomer mixture is a C6 fraction obtained from the aqueous cracking process or the fluidized catalytic cracking(FCC) process.

    Abstract: A method for preparing an olefin trimer and a method for preparing an alkylate having a high boiling point by using the olefin timer are provided to increase conversion rate and yield. An olefin trimer is prepared by using an acid catalyst comprising both Bronsted acid and Lewis acid or an acid catalyst obtained by sintering or washing the acid catalyst. Preferably the acid catalyst is prepared by introducing BF3, BCl3, BI3, SbF5, SbCl5, AlCl3, AlBr3, TiCl4, TiBr4, ZrCl4, PF5, FeCl3, FeBr3, SnBr4 or SnCl4 to a porous body such as hydrogen type zeolite or aluminophosphate, or an ion exchange resin having at least one acid group selected from a sulfonic acid group, a carboxyl group and a phosphoric acid group.

    Abstract: A method for preparing an olefin trimer is provided to improve the selectivity and productivity of the trimerization of an olefin by using a catalyst with improved lifespan, and to allow conversion of the olefin trimer into a high boiling point alkylate useful as an additive for a high-quality solvent and gasoline. A method for preparing an olefin trimer comprises the use of zeolite as a catalyst, wherein the zeolite has inter-crossing micropores formed of micropores containing 12 oxygen atoms, and micropores containing 12 oxygen atoms and/or micropores containing 10-6 oxygen atoms crossing over the same. The olefin trimer obtained by the method is further hydrogenated to provide a high boiling point alkylate. The zeolite having inter-crossing micropores has a Beta, Al-rich Beta, boron-containing Beta zeolite, gallium-containing Beta zeolite, titanium-containing Beta zeolite, CIT-6, Beta zeolite merely formed of silica or Tschernichite structure.
