    Abstract: PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of a vinyl polymer-clay nanocomposite is provided to prevent the generation of by-products, and to obtain a vinyl polymer-clay nanocomposite with excellent physical and chemical properties without using a chemical initiator. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of a vinyl polymer-clay nanocomposite comprises: a step of mixing imidazole salt with a vinyl group or quaternary amine salt with sodium clay(Na^+-montmorillonite), to manufacture reactive organic clay with a vinyl group; a step of manufacturing a reaction solution by dispersing the reactive organic clay and a vinyl monomer into an organic solvent; and a step of gamma ray-irradiating the reaction solution. The imidazole salt with a vinyl group is 1-[(4-ethylphenyl)methyl]-3-butyl-imidazolium chloride.
