Abstract: A monitoring method of a rear oxygen sensor is provided to determine the malfunction of the rear oxygen sensor by using relation between the time of OSC(Oxide Storage Capacity) of catalyst for a smoke filter device and the response time of the rear oxygen sensor. A monitoring method of a rear oxygen sensor comprises: a first step(S12) for determining whether signals, having lower value than lean decision reference value, are applied from the rear oxygen sensor or not; a third step(S16) for calculating the response time for the approval of the signals having greater value than the reach judgment reference value; a fourth step(S22) for calculating the time of OSC of catalyst; a fifth step(S28) for calculating difference for the failure decision base time of the time of OSC of the catalyst and a smoke filter device; a sixth step(S30) for determining whether the calculated difference is longer than the response time of the rear oxygen sensor or not; and a seventh step(S32,S20) for determining that the rear oxygen sensor is normal in case the sixth step is satisfied and determining the malfunction of the rear oxygen sensor in case the sixth step is not satisfied.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for diagnosing the trouble of a fuel level sensor are provided to accurately diagnose the connection state of a wire between fuel level sensors included in a fuel tank of a vehicle. An apparatus and a method for diagnosing the trouble of a fuel level sensor includes a first fuel level sensor(S1), a second fuel level sensor(S2), a first trouble detecting end(W1), and a second trouble detecting end(W2), and a power train control unit. The first fuel level sensor is mounted into a fuel tank to detect the level of a fuel in a vehicle. A power source is applied to one side of the first fuel level sensor. One side of the second fuel level sensor is connected in series to the other side of the first fuel level sensor and the other side thereof is grounded. The first trouble detecting end is connected to a power source end applied to the first fuel level sensor. The second trouble detecting end is connected to connection ends of the first fuel level sensor and the second fuel level sensor. The power train control unit receives signals of the first and second detecting ends to diagnose the connection state between the first and second fuel level sensors.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method of checking a fail for a fuel level sensor in a vehicle is provided to cope with OBD-II(On Board Diagnosis-II) regulations by detecting a fail of noise inflow in a fuel level sensor. CONSTITUTION: A temporary fail counter is reset and a noise counter is reset(110,120). It is judged whether conditions for prohibiting noise fail diagnosis are completed in a fuel level sensor of a vehicle(130). If not, operation of a time monitor is started(140). If a value obtained by subtracting a fuel level sensor filter value from a fuel level sensor output value is larger than Beta or the value is smaller than - Beta for a predetermined time, a noise count is increased by 1(150,160). It is judged whether the predetermined time passed(170,180). If the noise count is higher than a first threshold value, the temporary fail count is increased by 1(190,200). If not, the noise fail diagnosis of the fuel level sensor is judged as normal(230). If the temporary fail count is higher than a second threshold value, the fuel level sensor is judged as noise fail, and noise fail diagnosis of the fuel level sensor is stopped(210,220).
