Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling the stopped position of a wiper are provided to reduce head injury criterion and to protect passengers. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling the stopped position of a wiper(16) comprises a shock detecting sensor(10), a motor(14), a control part(20), and a wiper position detecting part(18). The shock detecting sensor detect whether or not passengers get a shock. The motor operates the wiper. The control part operates the motor to change the stopped position of the wiper to a preset position when receiving signals that the passengers get the shock. Abstract: NCAP 보행자 보호평가시 A(Adult)/HEAD FORM 점수를 향상시킬 수 있도록 한 와이퍼 정지 위치 제어 장치 및 방법을 제시한다. 제시된 장치는 보행자 충격 여부를 감지하는 충격감지 센서, 와이퍼를 구동시키는 모터, 및 충격감지 센서로부터의 신호에 의해 보행자 충돌을 감지함에 따라 모터를 작동시켜 와이퍼의 정지 위치를 미리 세팅된 위치로 전환시키는 제어부를 포함한다. 보행자 충돌시 설계구조상 보행자 점수획득에 불리한 타격 위치상에 와이퍼 암 및 블레이드를 위치시킴으로써, HIC(Head Injury Criterion)를 감소시킬 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 보행자를 보호할 수 있게 된다.
